After much delay, the 2011 Blogger's Choice Awards were announced over the weekend, and myself and Free Rein Media didn't do too badly, racking up three awards and a couple of trophy finishes. DasUberBlog!, the very page you are reading, won the 2011 Blogitzer, for Best Overall Writing. I could say this award comes as a surprise, but anyone familiar with me knows damn good and well I campaigned for this award mercilessly. I emailed people until the Internet connection at my office drooped. Literally. Having said that, it's an honor to be a Blogitzer-winning writer, and even cooler to now share an honor with Neil Gaiman (2008 Blogitzer winner). Free Rein Media (Executive Producers) and I (Host) shared the Best Podcast honors for my show Probably Uncalled For. This was an especially satisfying win for me, as the show has actually been nominated for this award every year it has existed. To win for the fifth season is a big victory in my mind, as the show has grown leaps and bounds from out beginnings in 2007, and has really come into its own. Free Rein Media's other radio production, Inside the Squared Circle, placed third in the Best Podcast voting, it's first trophy finish in five nominations in addition to winning the Best Blogging Host award. Big things for them in this year's awards? And...somehow, I managed to win Best Celebrity Blogger. That one I'm not exactly sure about, but I'll accept it. I have joked about my varied levels of "celebrity" for a few years now, and I guess this is just the next link in the chain. At the rate I'm going, my big break will be on an octogenarian version of Celebrity Rehab. Think that's bad? Try this- I'm 36 now, think of other celebrities my age, and then think about which one will be on there battling their addiction to plastic surgery... Blog!, the blog at FreeReinMedia.com picked up a runner-up finish in the Best Humor Blog category...a move that could quite possibly move myself and Mr. Mays to update the site a bit more often...stay tuned on that. Most importantly as I close this post, a deep and sincere thank you to everyone who voted, wrangled votes from others, and got the word out about the awards to begin with. One would have been cool enough, but three is a lot to be thankful for. Comments are closed.
